Mumbai: Actor Aamir Khan and filmmaker Kiran Rao today announced their divorce after 15 years of marriage.
In a joint statement, the couple mentioned that they will co-parent their son, Azad Rao Khan, as well as proceed with their skilled partnership on Paani Basis and ‘different projects that (they) really feel captivated with’.
“In these 15 stunning years collectively we’ve got shared a lifetime of experiences, pleasure and laughter, and our relationship has only grown in trust, respect, and love. Now we want to start a new chapter in our lives – now not as husband and wife, but as co-parents and family for one another,” they said.
The couple added: “We started a planned separation a while ago, and now really feel snug to formalize this association, of living individually but sharing our lives the way in which an extended household does. We stay devoted parents to our son Azad, who we are going to nurture and lift collectively. We will even continue to work as collaborators on movies, Paani Basis, and other projects that we really feel passionate about.
A big thanks to our families and buddies for his or her constant help and understanding about this evolution in our relationship, and without whom we might not have been so safe in taking this leap. We request our properly wishers for good needs and blessings and hope that – like us – you will see this divorce not as an end, however as the beginning of a new journey.
