Earthquake of magnitude 4.3 jolts Uttarakhand

An earthquake of magnitude 4.3 hit Uttarakhand on Monday (Might 24) with tremors being felt in a number of districts throughout the hill state together with Chamoli, Pauri, Garhwal, and Dehradun.

The epicentre was 22 km deep at 30.94 (latitude) – 79.44 (longitude). No casualties have been reported thus far because of the earthquake.

Not too long ago, because of the after-effects of Cyclone Tauktae, Uttarakhand received heavy rains resulting in landslides in Chamoli and the closure of the Badrinath freeway from three factors.
