Jesse Williams is leaving ‘Grey‘s Anatomy’ after 11 years.
The 40-year-old actor has introduced his character Dr. Jackson Avery is formally retiring from Seattle Grace Hospital after it was revealed on the most recent episode of the hit ABC medical drama titled ‘Look Up Child’.
In a statement to E! News, Jesse said: “I’ll forever be pleased about the boundless opportunities offered me by Shonda [Rhimes], the network, studio, fellow castmates, our incredible crew, Krista, Ellen, and Debbie [Allen]. As an actor, director and person, I’ve been obscenely fortunate to learn a lot from so many and I thank our stunning followers, who breathe so much power and appreciation into our shared worlds.
“The expertise and endurance born of creating nearly 300 hours of leading global tv is a gift I am going to carry all the time. I’m immensely happy with our work, our effect, and to be transferring ahead with so many instruments, alternatives, allies, and dear associates.”
Jesse will be again for one remaining time on Might 20 for the ‘Custom’ episode.
Govt producer and showrunner, Krista Vernoff, hailed Jesse for playing plastic surgeon Dr. Avery “to perfection for thus many years”.
She commented: “Jesse Williams is a rare artist and activist. Watching his evolution these previous 11 years each on-screen and off has been a real gift.
“Jesse brings a lot of coronary heart, such depth of care, and a lot of intelligence to his work. We are going to miss Jesse terribly and we are going to miss Jackson Avery—performed to perfection for thus many years.”
Jesse’s exit comes after Giacomo Giannotti’s alter ego Andrew DeLuca was killed off.
