Actor Puneeth Rajkumar died in a Bengaluru hospital today after struggling with a heart attack, leaving followers and colleagues shocked and grief-stricken. He was 46. The actor had been working out in a gym when he had a cardiac arrest; he was taken to Vikram Hospital in an “unresponsive” condition. On Friday afternoon, Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai tweeted: “I’m deeply shocked that Kannada movie star Shri Puneeth Rajkumar died of a coronary heart assault. The loss of life of Kannadigar’s favorite actor, Appu, has caused huge loss to Kannada and Karnataka and I pray that God can have mercy on his soul and give his followers the power to endure this ache.”
PM Narendra Modi tweeted: “A cruel accident has snatched away from us a prolific and proficient actor, Puneeth Rajkumar. This was no age to go. The approaching generations will keep in mind him fondly for his works and great character. Condolences to his family and admirers. Om Shanti.”
News agency ANI tweeted earlier today: “Actor Puneeth Rajkumar was admitted after suffering chest ache at 11.30 am. Trying our best to deal with him. His condition is serious. Cannot say anything as of now.
